On August 14th we are handing the reins over to the teens and tweens of Old Ottawa East! For this special edition of CAG's Weekly Community BBQ, these volunteers will help to plan and put on the BBQ, with guidance from CAG staff and adult volunteers.
This is a great opportunity for high school students to meet their volunteer requirements, learn new skills and have fun at the same time. Plus, all volunteers eat for free at CAG BBQs!

Help Plan the BBQ!

Volunteers who are interested in planning the BBQ will attend two planning meetings ahead of volunteering on August 14th.
CAG staff will facilitate these meetings where volunteers will learn about the behind-the-scenes of hosting a community event, then brainstorm and work together to make the BBQ their own!

If you are interested in helping to plan the BBQ in advance, please sign up by Friday Aug 8th at 4:00pm.
Help Run the BBQ!

On August 14th, the teens/tweens will transform Brantwood Park into a BBQ party of their own making!

We will need about 15 volunteers total to run this event from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday August 14th. Volunteer jobs will include set-up, clean-up, handing out food, working the cash, etc. Further details will be provided to volunteers once they have signed up at: volunteersignup.org/BJWK4

Interested in volunteering at this event, but can't make it on August 14th? Teens and tweens are always welcome to volunteer at any of CAG's Community BBQs! Visit our Get Involved page to find the volunteer sign-up sheets for all other BBQ dates.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of our BBQs and everyone is welcome to help us put on this great community event. This is a great way to meet others in your community and give back at the same time!

Shifts range from only 30 - 60 minutes, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the BBQ with your family, friends and neighbours. Plus, volunteers eat for free!

Volunteer duties include working the cash, dicing up some toppings (lettuce, tomatoes and onions), set-up/clean up and of course, working the BBQ! Children are welcome to join in and help out, except for grilling on the BBQ, which requires an adult volunteer.
