Class Description:

Somatic Movement is a field of body and movement work that focuses on how we feel and sense our body from the inside. It uses slow, guided explorations in movement, along with visualization, embodiment and touch, to help us tune in to our body and mind.

This deeper awareness can:

  • Foster physical grounding and better balance;

  • Guide toward each of our own and unique ideal body alignment;

  • Bring new ease and comfort to moving and breathing;

  • Reveal new sensations;

  • Support emotional regulation;

  • Encourage self-care.

No previous experience is required; only an open and curious mind.

Instructor:

Isabelle finds meaning in life through the study of movement. Holding a Master's in dance from UQAM, she is certified in Body-Mind Centering ® as both a Somatic Movement Educator and an Infant Developmental Movement Educator. She is drawn to how deepening body awareness opens a doorway to self-awareness. Somatic movement, for her, is a way of exploring our inner landscape, one that can reshape how we relate to others and to the world. As a dancer, she has discovered how this practice deepens connection with a partner, particularly in Argentine tango and contact improvisation. Passionate, she continues to explore and share it through teaching.

Class Notes:

This class will be offered in person only at the Old Town Hall Community Centre (61 Main Street).
