Class Description:

Balance mind and body with physical exercises or “asanas"; controlled breathing and the calming of the mind through relaxation. This class is suitable for both new enthusiasts as well as the more experienced. The postures and breath increase strength and flexibility, improve posture, reduce stress, and leave the participant feeling more youthful and energized. Building inner and outer strength while applying principles of alignment, this class allows students to stay safe and feel challenged, yet successful. In this yoga class, you will discover classic asana sequences, detailed instructions, and breathing and mindfulness techniques. The postures presented in this series are powerful, and fluid and will help to safely and effectively enhance your strength, flexibility, and balance.

Instructor:

Yuko’s Yoga journey started in 2003 when she was studying in Spain, and immediately fell in love. Since then she continued to practice during her corporate career in Japan and in Canada. With her husband who has MS she attended a seminar once by a chiropractic doctor and came to realize how important it is to exercise. In 2016 she became a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor at Astanga Yoga Ottawa and started teaching. In 2018 she fully transitioned into teaching Yoga.
She continued teaching online during the restrictions and still holds multiple classes online.
Yuko is also certified as a Hot Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Tai Chi Instructor, and is trained and has knowledge about Senior Fitness.
Her instruction is easy to follow, gentle, and yet effective. Her hope is to take her participants to a physically, mentally, and emotionally content place through body movements.
